Abstract：aBsTRacT This paper summarizes the compiling process of the Atlas of Various Regional Characteristic Residences in Traditional Towns (volume 1) (National Standard Architecture Design Pictorial: 11SJ937-1(1)). It introduces the aims and missions of the Atlas, analyzes the key problems encountered during the compilation, proposes a technical system of vernacular architecture construction, and the key issues to be resolved. On this basis, it discusses the methodology in the study of Pan-River South Region vernacular architecture, analyzes and concludes the questions and experiences during the study, and raises some ideas on the pedigree and zoning of vernacular architecture.
