Abstract：aBsTRacT The 20th Chinese Academic Conference on Vernacular Architecture was held in Hohhot, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in mid-July 2014. The topics in discussion included deepening the research on the culture of vernacular architecture, exploring the architectural techniques of vernacular architecture and their modern applications, as well as the protection and revitalization of the traditional settlements. In the meantime, the conference had announced a new academic committee, and the newly-nominated Chinese Vernacular Architecture Masters. The conference exhibited the latest research achievements on Chinese vernacular architecture, and reflected the research new trend, including deepening the research contents and methods of Chinese vernacular architecture, expanding the space and time scope of the study objects, as wel as protecting vernacular architecture and vil age with practical innovation.
