The Planning Research on the High Density Residential Complex with the Analysis Framework of Historical Space：A Case of Liede Village in Guangzhou

Abstract：Given the condition of urban space development from unused land to used land, the paper attempts to explore the responsive strategies in the renovation of the historical city. It first constitutes an analyzing framework based on the understanding of the meaning of historical space. Then, through the case study of Liede Vil age in Guangzhou, it examines its spatial structure and fabric, joints and landmarks, and col ective memory. Finally, it proceeds to propose the renovation policies of the historical space when Liede Village has to be transformed into a high density residential complex. The suggested policies are as fol ows: keeping the col ective memory, preserving the key historical sections and pumping the new functions and vitality.
