The Modern Transition of Traditional Craftsmen in Southern Fujian:A Case Study of Yang Hufa, Famous Craftsman in Huian

Abstract：While the building system in southern Fujian inherited and developed the traditional construction methods during modern times, it also influenced by foreign modern construction methods. Local traditional craftsmen had made the modern transition in order to meet the new demand of era. This paper takes Yang Hufa,one of the most famous modern craftsmen in HuiAn, as an example, carding the process of learning and his construction activities, analyzing typical works from his design drawings and construction processes. At last, discuss the design features and the enlightenment to current regional architecture design.
