An Actioned Regionality:the Practice of Huang Shengyuan in Yilan City

Abstract:The essay tries to take the Taiwan architect, Sheng-yuan Huang, and his practices in Yilan County around 19 years as an example to discuss the alternative possibility of regionality that is based on local communities and social actions. This kind of regionality dose not simply copy the form of traditional architecture, but react to needs of communities and the climate. Huang’s works not only absorb regional features but create a new characteristic for Yilan. Their works gradual y change the city, improve the quality of life and give a strong character to the city.
