Abstract:Liuhuang, a small town located in Fengshun County, Meizhou City, is known for its distinctive regional culture characteristics of blending Chaoshan and Hakka culture, but currently faces the problem of disappearing regional culture in streetscape. Based on methods of typology and the new urbanism, this paper discusses the design methods of adaptation to the regional culture and refining key elements of Chaoshan and Hakka from the remediation design of architectural style along the street of Liu Huang. The design manages to build a folk commercial street with regional characteristics、serving for future tourism of Liuhuang by emphasizing the integrity of architectural style and continuity of historical memory.
