The Practice and Reflection of Conservation and Regeneration in Shawan Ancient Town of Panyu District

Abstract：Shawan ancient town of Panyu district in Guangzhou which is one of “famous historical and cultural towns of China”is one typical representative of the research in conservation and regeneration of ancient towns and villages in the Pearl River Delta area.According to a comprehensive evaluation of the core values and personalized features of Shawan ancient town,this paper puts forward the ideas and strategies which are first and foremost based on the integral,authentic conservation and regeneration.This paper also analyzes and emphasizes the current main problems of Shawan ancient town’s conservation and regeneration,and points out its developmental direction in the future. The research outputs would directly contribute to the work of conservation and regeneration in Shawan ancient town.
