The Influence of Economic Values on Micro Urban Morphology:a Case Study of The Metro Line 1 Station Development in Guangzhou

Abstract:Guangzhou is a historical-cultural city over 2200 years. A rapid urban development has taken place while the reform and open policy during the last three decades (1978-2008). The urban morphology in the downtown area had a drastic change because of the regeneration and reconstruction process at the same time. The results caused by economic activity are stunning, with the social and environmental changes that are ful of concerns. Especial y, the contrasts between the old and the new in the micro scale are pretty strong. This paper analyses the changing process on the micro urban morphology of the metro line one’s station property development in the old town since 1990. It will contribute some positive meaning to the urban reconstruction, the historic conservation and innovation.
