Natural Lighting Optimization Analysis of Vertical Rectangular Dormer of Gymnasium in Guangzhou Region

Abstract：In order to improve the utilization rate of natural-lighting and the quality of daylighting for a gymnasium, an analog analysis was performed via ECOTECT for the lighting environment of a natural-lighting and top-interface gymnasium in Guangzhou. It is found that when reducing the distance between dormers, raising the dormers’ height, and parallelling the dormers with the length of gymnasium could improve the illuminance and uniformity. When keeping the same area of dormers, maximum values of illuminance and uniformity could be reached via changing the distribution density of dormers.
