Research on the Spatial Form Characteristics of Suzhou Traditional Courtyard from the Typological Perspective

Abstract：The traditional courtyard house is a very important material carrier of the Suzhou traditional residing culture.For a very long time, due to the inertia of people’s acknowledge about the Suzhou traditional houses , it hasn’t gained its independent research status ,either the style feature it contained has been overall studied yet, which, to the point of exploring the traditional spatial form for the ancient city protection and new town construction ,is a great pity for Suzhou. Thus, this paper is willing to have an initial interpretation of spatial form feature of Suzhou traditional courtyard house, using related methods of morphological types and within the basic principle of merging the similar, on which base to do some research on its present alienation phenomenon ,and which is ,more important, let more professionals pay more attention and do further research on the Suzhou local residential architecture culture.
