Research on Urban-rural Integration Development Strategy of Wenzhou Flatlands

Abstract：Within Wenzhou city region, most farmlands spread among Wenzhouflatlands, where the traditional agriculture is most thriving, too. Since 1980s, the economic development under “Wenzhou Pattern” has extended rural and town settlements, and has formed complicated urban and rural construction space, as wel as densely populated and continuous area. As the general development framework of Wenzhou wil be remodeled in the new era, the urban and rural spatial organization and functional structure must be adjusted. The paper bases on the micro-perspective, study the life units of villages and towns, function organization and scale structure of industry and agriculture space. To fulfill goals as upgrading Wenzhou city’s function, transitioning industrial structure, and protecting the country culture and landscape, the paper focuses on assemble and rebuild farmhouses during the urban-rural integration process, and is trying to find an urban-rural integration pattern that is suitable for the natural condition and social and economic foundation of Wenzhou flatlands.
