Abstract：With the development of information and globalization society, polycentric structure becomes the main feature in regional development. This paper reviews recent researches of mega-city region, studies the new intensions and patterns of polynuclear urban network on the context of information and globalization world. On the basis of the planning of advanced mega-city regions in the world, the paper argues the development of Shanghai’s metropolitan area.
