The Big-events and the Urban Development of Guangzhou in a Sustainable Development Perspective: the Rethink on the Construction of the Asian Games Town in the Post-Asian Games Era
Abstract：This paper reviews the great influence of the strategies on planning and construction to the development of the urban structure in those big events in Guangzhou, including the 6th National Games and the 9th National Games, to propose basic principles for the construction in the new urban areas during the big events. It takes the 2010 Asian Games as example to analyze the contradiction between its strategic position and the appropriate role, compare the difference between the ideal and the reality. Based on a sustainable aspect, it rethinks the rational and practical strategies in the big events and gives suggestions for the development of the Asian Games Town
