Comparison of the Management and Operation Mode in Heritage Protection Led by the Government:Case Studies of Historical district in Suzhou City and Ancient Town Xitng
Abstract:Heritage protection has gained social concerns and global awarenes instead of a mere theoretical and academic interest since the 21st century.In reality,the practice management and operation of heritage protection are often affected and restricted by regulated perceptions and policies,protection modes and operational methods.With the unique cultural and regiongal deviations in China,both sucesses and failures are presented in protectional practices,not without some characteistic mangement and operations.The comparison studies of two water towns,Pingjinng Road district in Soochow and Xitang ancient town in Zhenjiang.show simitarities and differences,gain and loss in the operation led by the govermmet,in order to provide consultancy and reference for the future heritage protection practices.
