Abstract:Obstetric surgery involves the management of maternal and neonatal complications during pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium. Its anesthetic management needs to simultaneously address multiple goals, such as ensuring maternal and infant safety, achieving effective analgesia, maintaining hemodynamic stability, promoting postoperative recovery, and safeguarding neonatal health.Traditional anesthetic drugs have limited clinical application due to numerous risks, including respiratory depression, strong penetrability through the placental barrier, and neurotoxicity to neonates.Dexmedetomidine,a highly selective α2-adrenergic receptor agonist, has offered significant potential for the development of obstetric anesthesia by virtue of its unique pharmacokinetic properties. This article aims to review the progress of clinical research on dexmedetomidine in obstetric anesthesia in recent years,so as to provide references for optimizing obstetric anesthesia regimens and improving the quality of perioperative management.
