Abstract:Objective To systematically evaluate the influencing factors for hypoxemia during anesthesia recovery in postoperative patients undergoing general anesthesia. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted in databases including PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,Embase,CNKI,VIP,Wanfang, and CBM from inception to July 4th,2025,to identify studies investigating influencing factors for hypoxemia during anesthesia recovery in patients after general anesthesia. Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and assessed the quality of the included studies using Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality(AHRQ)and Newcastle-Ottawa scale(NOS).Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 17.0 software for each identified influencing factor. Results A total of 21 studies were included, involving a surveyed population of 22,184 cases, with 2,204 hypoxemia cases, from which 13 influencing factors were extracted. The Meta-analysis results indicated that the following were risk factors for hypoxemia during anesthesia recovery:age≥60 years(OR=2.36,95%CI:1.74-3.19),BMI≥24 kg/m2(OR=4.63,95%CI:2.71-7.91),BMI≥28 kg/m2(OR=2.84,95%CI:1.14-7.04),smoking(OR=3.28,95%CI:2.29-4.71),hypertension(OR=2.56,95%CI:2.18-2.99),diabetes(OR=2.75,95%CI:1.59-4.74),preoperative SpO₂<95%(OR=4.25,95%CI:2.17-8.30),ASA classification(OR=2.30,95%CI:1.92-2.75),anesthesia duration(OR=1.01,95%CI:1.00-1.01),surgery duration(OR=1.05,95%CI:1.03-1.07),body temperature<36℃upon PACU admission(OR=6.46,95%CI:3.22-12.97),and Riker sedation-agitation scale score≥5(OR=4.19,95%CI:1.96-8.96).FEV₁/FVC ratio(OR=0.95,95%CI:0.91-1.00)was identified as a protective factor against hypoxemia during anesthesia recovery. Conclusion Hypoxemia during anesthesia recovery is influenced by multiple factors.Healthcare professionals can utilize these factors to identify high-risk patients and implement interventions to reduce the incidence of hypoxemia during this period.
