Research progress on remimazolam for pediatric anesthesia

Abstract：Remimazolam is an ultra-short-acting benzodiazepine sedative,primarily used for general anesthesia induction,intraoperative maintenance and sedation for outpatient painless operations.The new sedative remimazolam has the advantages of fast onset,long-term infusion without accumulation,and minimal hemodynamic impact.Its application in the special population of pediatric patients is still in the exploration stage.The physiological characteristics of children are obviously different from adults,with the characteristics of large drug distribution volume and immature organ systmes and relevant protease systems.The unique metabolic properties of remimazolam make it more suitable for pediatric anesthesia.This review aims to illustrate the pharmacological characteristics of remimazolam and its application progress in pediatric clinical practice in recent years,and to provide a reference for its safe medication in pediatric clinical application.
