Abstract:Objective To analyze the effects of remimazolam and propofol on hemodynamic stability and postoperative recovery time in elderly patients undergoing general anesthesia surgery. Methods Sixty elderly patients,of American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA)physical status Ⅱ or Ⅲ,who underwent surgical treatment at the Fourth People's Hospital of Nanhai District,Foshan City,Guangdong Province from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as the study subjects. The patients were randomly divided into the propofol group(n=30)and the remimazolam group(n=30)according to random number table method.Among them, there were 19 males and 11 females in the propofol group, aged 60-78 years, with an average age of(65.89±3.53)years;there were 18 males and 12 females in the remimazolam group, aged 60-79 years, with an average age of(65.17±3.22)years.The propofol group was anesthetized with propofol, while the remimazolam group was anesthetized with remimazolam. The changes in heart rate, systolic blood pressure, and dias-tolic blood pressure of both groups before anesthesia induction(T0),before tracheal intubation(T1),and after tracheal intubation(T2)were recorded.Adverse reactions, changes in hemodynamic stability, and postoperative recovery time were compared between the two groups. Results At T0,there was no statistically significant difference in the indicators of hemodynamic stability between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with T0,the indicators of hemodynamic stability in both groups were significantly decreased at T1,showing a sig-nificant upward trend at T2 compared with T1(P<0.05);compared with the propofol group, patients in the remimazolam group showed an increase in hemodynamic stability indicators at T1 and T2(P<0.05).Compared with the propofol group, the remifentanil group had a shorter anesthesia induction time, tracheal extubation time, and recovery time(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant differ-ence in the operation time, anesthesia maintenance time, and the bispectral index(BIS)values at T0,T1,and T2 between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with the propofol group, the incidence of adverse events in the remimazolam group was significantly lower(P<0.05).Conclusion Under the guidance of BIS monitoring, compared with propofol, the use of remifentanil in general anesthesia surgery for eld-erly patients can offer better intraoperative hemodynamic stability, shorten postoperative recovery time, and reduce the risk of adverse e-vents,which is worthy of clinical promotion.
