Abstract:The unplanned intensive care unit(ICU)admission is one of the anesthesia-related adverse events, and it's also one of the core indicators for perioperative safety and quality assurance. It is closely related to perioperative patient safety. The occurrence of unplanned ICU admission indicates that the patient has experienced unexpected perioperative adverse events, posing a threat to the patient's life safety. Therefore, early identification of the risk factors for unplanned ICU admission, along with the establishment of a comprehensive preventive measures system,is crucial to effectively avoid such occurrences and ensure the safety of patients during the perioperative period. This article explores the background, risk factors, and impacts on patients related to unplanned ICU admission.
