Abstract:Objective To systematically retrieve and summarize the best evidences on the optimal timing for tracheal extubation in post-operative patients after general anesthesia, providing reference for clinical staff to choose the appropriate timing of extubation. Methods According to the"6S"evidence model, literature related to tracheal extubation timing was retrieved from UpToDate,National Guideline Clearinghouse(NGC),Guidelines International Network(GIN),American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA),PubMed,Embase,China Biology Medicine(CBM),Medlive,Chinese Medical Association,CNKI,VIP,and Wanfang databases. The scope included clini-cal guidelines, expert consensuses, best practices, randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, clinical decision-making,and evidence summaries. The retrieval period was from the date of inception to September 2024.Two postoperative nursing students independently screened the literatures and extracted data. Results Eleven articles were ultimately included, comprising six guidelines, four expert con-sensus documents, and one systematic review.A total of 16 best evidences were collected from 3 themes, including pre-extubation plan-ning,extubation time selection and post-extubation care. Conclusion This study scientifically and comprehensively summarizes the best evidence regarding the timing for postoperative patients under general anesthesia, providing resources for clinical transformation and offer-ing reliable guidance for healthcare professionals in selecting the appropriate timing for tracheal extubation.
