Abstract:With the deepening of the concept of enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)in clinical practice and the popularization of ambulatory surgical wards, clinical doctors continuously optimize diagnosis and treatment regimens, for accelerating rapid recovery of body functions and shortening hospitalization time for postoperative patients.Early water intake and oral feeding after surgery is one of the important measures for rapid recovery. There is no authoritative recommended plan for whether patients can safely drink water in the post-anesthesia care unit(PACU)after general anesthesia, the timing of drinking water, the evaluation before drinking water, and the amount of water they can drink.Considering these issues, relevant literature at home and abroad in recent years has been searched, and the research progress of early water intake after surgery was reviewed according to clinical practice.
