New advances in technology of epidural puncture

Abstract：Epidural anesthesia is widely used anesthetic modality, which has little adverse effect on cardiovascular, respiratory, and gastro-intestinal functions.The loss of resistance is most frequently used technique to confirm entrance of epidural space.As the loss of resistance is a subjective felt motion, higher failure rates occur with inexperienced anesthesiologists.Several objective methods for identification of entering epidural space have been proposed.Herein, we review the new approaches used in epidural anesthesia.
