Research progress on iron metabolism regulating immune cells

Abstract：Iron metabolism plays a crucial role in cellular physiological processes.In recent years,the regulatory effect of iron metabolism on immune cells has become a research hotspot.Increasing studies have shown that iron metabolism is closely associated with the function of the immune system.Iron is not only necessary for the proliferation and differentiation of immune cells,but also participates in the immune response of the body by regulating the activation and function of immune cells.Iron overload and ferroptosis are two important manifestations of abnormal iron metabolism.This article systematically reviews the latest research progress on the regulation of iron metabolism on the activation and function of different types of immune cells,providing relevant theoretical basis for in-depth understanding of the interaction between iron metabolism and the immune system.
