Abstract:Autophagy,as a highly conserved degradation process within eukaryotic cells, plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to stress. In recent years, with the continuous in-depth research on autophagy in the field of infectious diseases,an increasing number of scholars have recognized autophagy as a"double-edged sword".Several viruses, after long-term evolution, can evade or even destroy the host cell's autophagy through multiple pathways, thereby creating favorable conditions for their own replication and transmission.Hepatitis E virus(HEV),as an important zoonotic pathogen, can regulate the autophagy process of host cells through multiple molecular pathways to promote virus replication and survival. This article systematically reviews the mechanism of autophagy and its regulatory role in HEV infection, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for in-depth understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of HEV and the development of targeted anti-viral strategies targeting autophagy.
