Abstract:The mechanisms of Argon-helium cryosurgical system are argon rapid refrigeration generating ultra low temperature (<-140 ℃C) and helium rapid rewarming causing ice crystals formation inside and outside cells, eventually leading to tumor cells dehydration and death. The antitumor immune effect of cryotherapy has been extensively studied, and most studies show that cryotherapy can enhance the antitumor immune effect.Cryotherapy could promote many necrosis substance of tumor to release into blood, then activate dendritic cells and enhance their ability of presenting antigens.Activated dendritic cells also secrete many kinds of cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-12,then promote the activation and proliferation of T lymph cells and B lymph cells, thus activate immune system to exert anti-tumor immune effect.Other studies have found that high-zone tolerance has occurred after cryotherapy, which increases the proliferation and activity of Treg cells and inhibits the anti-tumor immune effect. In recent years,Argon-helium cryosurgical system combine with CpG-ODN,CTLA-4 antibodies or other immunotherapy achieved good therapeutic effect. In this paper,we overview the research progress about antitumor immunological mechanisms of Argon-helium cryosurgical system.
