Abstract:HIV reservoir represents the predominant barrier to viral eradication and cure.Resting memory CD4 + T cells, including subpopulations with phenotypic and functional heterogeneity, act as key cellular compartments contributing to HIV persistence. For HIV-infected patients receiving suppressive antiretroviral therapy, immunological mechanisms such as keeping memory and clonal expansion are key factors of maintenance of HIV reservoir.Identification of pivotal HIV cellular reservoir subsets, and exploring related immunological mechanisms of maintaining HIV persistence are hotspots in fields of HIV cure. This review will mainly discuss on contribution of CD4+ T cell subpopulations to HIV persistence and related immunological mechanisms.
