Abstract:This study performed to explore the intervention effect and mechanism of compound cordyceps militaris (CCM) on ulcerative colitis (UC).Animal model of UC was induced with high-fat diet and dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in C57BL/6J mouse, which were orally administrated with 90,180 and 540 mg· kg-1 · d-1CCM for 8 weeks. The body weights of mice, the levels of occult blood, the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1[β (IL-1β) in serum, pathological changes as well as the expression of TNF-α,IkB-α,NF-κBp65 in colonic tissue were observed.Compared with the normal group, the model group showed significant increases in occult blood, serum TNF-α and IL-1β,colon inflammatory infiltration,TNF-α and NF-κBp65 levels, and remarkable decline in IkB-α.Compared with the model group,CCM middle dose group showed obvious relieve in colon inflammatory infiltration, significant reduction in TNF-α,NF-κBp65 expression, body weight, occult blood, remarkable increase in IκB-α expression, and reduction in serum TNF-α,serum IL-1β.Taken together,CCM can inhibit the activation of NF-κB pathway, reduce inflammatory infiltration in colon, and thus prevent UC development.
