Roles of thioredoxin and Trx80 in immune system
Abstract:Thioredoxin, a small but multiple functional (such as being against ROS, protecting brain, modulating immunity)protein is extensively existed in prokaryotie and eukaryotie cells. Thioredoxin has an active site Cys-Gly-Pro-Cys which is responsible for the redox modulation of several specific proteins through dithiol/disulfide exchange, while truncated Trx (Trx80) doesn't have redox regulation function. This article summarizes recent advances in the research of the relationship between Trx/Trx80 and immune system.
