Optimization and modification of non-caking coal blending for conventional coking
Abstract:A new type of coal modifying additive(ZBS)was developed to modify the non-coking coal, so it can be used for coking. A series of 40 kg coking-oven experiments were performed and the results show that the quality of the coke deteriorates with the addition of 4% of anthracite and 6% of Long Flame Coal, while it is improved significantly with the ZBS modifying additive. The best improvement is achieved when 0.08 % of ZBS is mixed with the non-coking coal, which causes coke properties such as the anti-broken strength of coke(M40 ) to increase by 5.94% ,wear resist- ance strength (M~0) to decrease by 7.12%, coke reactivity index(CRI) to reduce by 4.61% and strength after reac- tion(CSR) to increase by If. 42%. The quality of the coke obtained is very close to the production index of coking coal and the production requirements can be met.
