Kinetics of SO2 adsorption by powder activated carbon using fluidized bed reactor
Abstract:The adsorption of SO2 on powder activated carbon(AC) using fluidized bed reactor was analyzed in the flue gas for flue gas desulphurization. The chemical characters of AC have important influence on the SO2 adsorption capac ity of AC. The C/S molar ratio is the important parameter which impacts the desulphurization efficiency. With the in crease of the C/S molar ratio, the desulphurization efficiency increases rapidly, while the adsorption rate decreases. The experimental date indicates that the adsorption rate of powder AC is higher than that of columnar AC. With the exten ding of the adsorption time, the adsorption capacity and adsorption velocity reduce rapidly. After 12 s, the powder AC no longer adsorbs SO2 from the flue gas. The apparent adsorption kinetic model was used to predict the SO2 adsorption. The adsorption process best follows the Bangham model.
