Numerical simulation of flow characteristics of new self-sucking device for column flotation froth transportation
Abstract:A numerical simulation for self-sucking device with the impeller diameter of 450 mm,and the impeller height of 142 mm,was performed using Fluent software, the influence of bubble diameter, impeller speed and gas holdup on flow characteristics was studied. The results show that the bubble diameter and the gas holdup are key factors influencing the performance of self-sucking device, when the gas holdup is 45%,the back flow of gas phase basically disappears on the suction surface of blade, but with the increasing of the gas holdup, the self-sucking capability decreases;with the increasing of the bubble diameter, the gas holdup goes up on the central area of impeller and the suction surface of blade, the air mass increases which congregating on the central area of impeller, and the self-sucking capability decreases;with the increasing of the impeller speed, the phenomenon of gas-liquid separation is more obvious in the impeller.
