Effect of manganese nitrate on calcination/carbonation for CO_2 capture using calcium-based sorbent
Abstract:Mn(NO3)2-doped CaO-based sorbents were synthesized by the wet impregnation method. The effect of manganese nitrate on cyclic capture of CO2 using Ca-based sorbent was investigated in the atmospheric two-fixed calcination/carbonation reactor system. The results show that operating parameters including molar ratio of Mn to Ca,carbonation temperature and calcination temperature have great influence on the carbonation conversions of the treated sorbent. When the molar ratio of Mn to Ca is 1.0∶100 and the carbonation temperature is 700 ℃,the treated sorbent achieves the greatest conversion, which is higher than the untreated sorbent at the same conditions. The anti-sintering performance at high calcination tempreture(950 ℃) is enhanced by treating the sorbent with manganese nitrate. The pore structure is improved with the addition of manganese nitrate, and that is beneficial to cyclic CO2 capture.
