Wavelet coherence analysis for GPS time series

Abstract：Wavelet coherence, combining wavelet transform, of which took advantage of multiresolution time-frequency analysis, and Fourier analysis, obtained the amplitude and phase information implying in signals, and studied the feature of how the coherence changing with time. So it could detect feature information that Fourier coherence couldn' t,that could be proved in the simulation test. Then wavelet coherence was applied to Shandong GPS crustal movement network time series, and covariation rules of month-period, season-period and half-year-period components in different directions between two stations was summarized respectively as well. Both the simulation test and measured data analysis show that wavelet coherence is an effective method to analyze the interdependence between two time series,to detect the transient changes of coherent in particular.
