Abstract:Based on the gas tracer experiment, a mathematical and physical model was built to simulate the flow of air and gas in the coal face and goaf. Under the VC + + 6. 0 environment, using user defined function to carry on secondary development in Fluent. The numerical simulation to predict the distribution of oxygen and gas was carried through to coal face normal operation, air leaking in connections along the return airway, and air leaking in the tail roadway. The results obtained through using CFD is close to the practical measurements. If the connections along the return airway or the tail roadway are not seal well, the concentration of oxygen in the goaf will be significantly increased. High gas emission rate can accelerate self inerting of the goaf so as to prevent coal spontaneous combustion.
