Abstract:Based on the adsorbing-swelling experiment on dry and different water-bearing coal samples from the Malan Mine of the Gujiao coalfield in Shanxi Province with injected water under different pressure and room temperature , the characteristics of adsorption-swelling deformation of these coal bodies were described. Additionally, the mechanism of gas and water medium on the swelling behavior was analyzed. The results show that strain parameters display a similar Langmuir-isothermal adsorption curve with the changes of pressure. The coal body strains parallel to the bedding direction are larger than those of perpendicular to the bedding after adsorbing of the coal samples with different water content. It is concluded that the factors that gas and water influence the deformation characteristic of coal body are different. With the increasing of injection gas volume in the coal sample, the swelling energy becomes bigger and the deformation is bigger. The water occupation on effective absorption spot can lead to the weakness of coal adsorption capacity on gas, and the weakness of the expansion capacity invoking by the gas absorption.
