Abstract:Based on the difference in sound wave spreading velocity through rocks of different physico-mechanics,Sound wave detection as well as the interpretation of the results, is made, during the trial extraction of Group A seam in West No.2 and West No.4 sections on -250 m level of Kongji Coal Mine in Huainan, of the behavior of the rock surrou nd ing the seams after mining, such as the maximum waterconducting fissure height of the roof and the failure depth of the floor. Verification is given by the subsequent explorations of the parameters obtained. This technique offers scientif ic basis for water prevention and harnessing and safe production in coal mines.
