Rheidity phenomena and shaft lining mechanics model of drainage and compression in upper soil mass
GE Xiao-guang
Abstract:Based on the fact that the drainage from the Bottom Aquifer of the thick loose strata to minepits causes strata's compression and additional vertical stresses to shaft linings, it is believed that rheidity of the soft and moist soils results in stressrelax during stresses accumulation within soil-mass. A Maxwell's model of viscoelasticity mechanics is adopted to simulate soil-mass cons titutive relation. A FEM technique is used to analyse the altering process of stresses in soil-mass and shaftlinings. The relationship between additional stress onto shaft-lining and ratio of piazometric head drawdown in Bottom Aquifer is expressed. The reason why most shaft-linings' failed in years after they are used practically can be explained with the rheidity model.
