Cause and control of impulsive damage from deep-hole bench-blasting

Abstract：Through analyzing the problem of impulsive damage of deep-hole bench blasting with explosive kinetics and mechanics methods, the cause and mechanism of impulsive damage are revealed. It is considered that the force to fol lowing faces of rocks moving is the main cause. This force makes the followed rocks move and dislocate. To adopt measures of changing the charge patters and optimum blasting parameters and use millisecond blasting and pre-splitting blasting,the impulsive damage from deep-hole bench blasting could be controlled and the edge slopes could be kept stable.
