The effect of sodium hydroxide treatment on biomass binder preparation

Abstract：The possibility of rice straw treated with sodium hydroxide used as coal briquette binder was studied. The main factor influenced on binder preparation was sodium hydroxide concentration. The binding ability of the solid component is higher than the liquor part. The prepared rice straw binder was mixed with inorganic material, bentonite or/and high molecular synthetic organic materials to manufacture mixed coal briquette binder. This binder can further enhance the briquettes quality.
