Research on the impact of ESG performance on the performance of energy companies:Based on the evidence of Chinese A-share listed energy companies

Abstract：During the crucial period when the global sustainable development strategy is being continuously advanced and the energy industry is facing both challenges and opportunities for transformation,this study focuses on analyzing the dynamic relationship between ESG performance and the performance of energy companies,and delves into the mediating roles of digital transformation and green technological innovation.Data from A-share listed energy companies in China from 2014 to 2023 were selected as the research sample,and empirical tests were conducted using statistical tools such as the double fixed effect regression model.The findings reveal that the ESG performance of energy companies enhances corporate performance by increasing the degree of digital transformation and strengthening the capacity for green technology innovation.The results of heterogeneity analysis indicate that the ESG performance of energy companies located in the eastern and central regions,state-owned enterprises,and those in heavy-polluting industries has a more significant promoting effect on corporate performance.
