Abstract:New-quality productivity is a green productivity that promotes the realization of the"dual carbon goals"and is an advanced productivity led by scientific and technological innovation. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the impact of new-quality productivity on per capita carbon emissions under the background of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.Based on the panel data of 224 prefecture-level cities in China from 2011 to 2023,this paper first calculates the new-quality productivity index of each prefecture-level city, and then constructs a measurement model to deeply analyze the impact and mechanism of new-quality productivity on per capita carbon emissions. The results show that:① The development of new-quality productivity can significantly reduce per capita carbon emissions.② The heterogeneous results show that the impact of new-quality productivity on per capita carbon dioxide emissions is more significant in popular tourist cities and low-carbon pilot cities.③ The mechanism test analysis shows that new-quality productivity reduces per capita carbon emissions by promoting the development of green innovation technologies and the overall upgrading of the industrial structure.
