Abstract:Energy-rich regions are constrained by their resource endowments and have a marked regional high-carbon lock-in characteristic.Studying the carbon emission patterns, dissecting the driving factors of carbon emissions, and proposing corresponding carbon emission reduction countermeasures are of great significance for promoting the realization of China's carbon peak and carbon neutrality.Based on energy and socio—economic data in Xinjiang, the paper calculates the carbon emissions from energy consumption from 2012 to 2021,and uses the LMDI model and the STIRPAT model to conduct an empirical study on the main influencing factors of carbon emissions from energy consumption in Xinjiang. The study finds that in the past decade,China's carbon emissions have been mainly from coal consumption.Economic effects, population size, energy intensity, and energy consumption structure all have a promoting effect on carbonemissions and the impact factors increase by 1%,carbon emissions increase by 0.50%,0.43%,0.05%,and 0.01%,respectively.In the general context of promoting the green economy and high quality development, optimizing the energy and industrial structure, improving the efficiency of resource use and raising public awareness of low-carbon practices are beneficial to achieve the"dual carbon"objective in energy-rich regions.
