Abstract:As China's traditional old industrial bases, the three northeastern provinces have long faced deep conflicts of energy dependence, economic transformation and environmental protection.Based on the panel data of the three provinces from 2012 to 2022,this paper constructs the evaluation index system of energy-economy-environment(3E)system,measures the development level of subsystems by using entropy value method, and analyzes the temporal and spatial evolution law and driving mechanism of the coordination degree of the 3E system in the three northeastern provinces by combining the improved ternary coupling coordination degree model and spatial measurement method. The study shows that the coupling coordination degree of the three northeastern provinces has increased from 0.556 in 2012 to 0.734 in 2022,and the overall coordination degree has moved from"barely coordinated"to"intermediate coordinated",but there are significant inter-provincial differences(Liaoning>Jilin>Heilongjiang). The spatial econometric model shows that the expansion of total energy consumption, high energy consumption per unit of GDP and lagging industrial wastewater treatment are the main constraints, while the increase of tertiary industry, the increase of financial investment in energy conservation and environmental protection, and the growth of GDP per capita have a significant effect on the degree of coordination.Based on empirical results, the study furtherly proposes differentiated policy paths.
