Research on the impact of digital technology innovation on green total factor productivity of manufacturing enterprises

Abstract：The accelerated advancement of digital technology has introduced novel prospects for the environmentally conscious transformation of enterprises.It is of paramount importance to investigate the influence of digital technological innovation on the green production of enterprises with the aim of achieving high-quality development.This study employs a sample of Chinese Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies in the manufacturing industry from 2010 to 2022 to examine the impact of digital technology innovation on the green total factor productivity of manufacturing enterprises.The findings indicate that digital technology innovation has a positive effect on the green total factor productivity of manufacturing enterprises.This is achieved primarily through improvements in resource allocation efficiency and enterprise operational efficiency.The impact is particularly pronounced in state-owned enterprises,enterprises in high-pollution industries,and high-tech enterprises.Furthermore,the enterprise-customer and enterprise-supplier data matching test demonstrates that enterprise digital technological innovation has a backward and forward industrial chain correlation effect,thereby enhancing the green total factor productivity of upstream supplier enterprises and downstream customer enterprises.The findings of this study assist manufacturing enterprises in achieving sustainable development strategies through digital technology innovation and provide valuable insights for government departments in formulating policies to promote digital technology innovation and green industry development.
