Research on the impact of carbon trading policies on the digital transformation of high energy consuming enterprises

Abstract:The carbon emissions trading system is a policy tool that encourages enterprises to reduce emissions and control pollution in the form of economic incentives,which helps to achieve carbon reduction goals.In order to test the impact of policy effects,this article first uses panel data of listed companies in carbon emission trading pilot areas from 2009 to 2019,and uses a difference in differences model to empirically study the impact of the policy on the digital transformation of high energy consuming enterprises.The reliability of the results is verified through a series of robustness tests.Research has found that carbon trading policies can improve the digital transformation level of high energy consuming enterprises and enhance the degree of digital transformation year by year;The impact of carbon trading policies on the digital transformation of enterprises is more significant in state-owned enterprises.Further analysis of its impact mechanism reveals that the development level and institutional legal environment of market intermediary organizations in the process of marketization play an intermediary role in the digital transformation of high energy consuming enterprises.
