Abstract:Based on a comprehensive review of the current research status of life cycle assessment(LCA)and life cycle sustainability assessment(LCSA)of hydrogen fuel cells(HFC)both domestically and internationally, this study constructs a sustainability evaluation index system for HFC power fuel pathways from three dimensions:environmental, economic, and social.Utilizing LCA,life cycle costing(LCC),and social life cycle assessment(SLCA)methods, four fuel technology pathways comprising hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and refueling were comprehensively evaluated. The findings indicate that,at present, the coke oven gas-based hydrogen production pathway in factories performs best in terms of environmental and economic dimensions, while on-site electrolysis-based hydrogen production shows advantages in the social dimension.Future efforts should focus on promoting electrolysis-based hydrogen production using renewable electricity, increasing research and development of unconventional natural gas extraction technologies, and accelerating the construction of hydrogen energy-related infrastructure.
