Abstract:China is a significant consumer of aluminum, but it faces challenges due to the relatively small amount of bauxite resources with medium quality.Additionally,a substantial portion of bauxite resources in China coexist with coal deposits. The efficient and coordinated exploration, development, and utilization of these co-existing coal and aluminum resources have been long-standing challenges in the bauxite industry. This paper introduces the types, distribution, and occurrence of bauxite in China, along with the main co-development modes of coal and aluminum resources. It also discusses new methods and technologies such as in-situ leaching mining.Building on this foundation,we propose a development concept known as"joint layout-in-situ modification-strip filling"based on the"theory and method of co-mining of coal and aluminum"to address the primary challenges of simultaneous mining and storage of coal and aluminum in our country. The paper also delves into key methods and technologies for the coordinated exploration and development of coal and aluminum symbiotic resources. This includes considerations for the occurrence relationship,co-mining system construction, green mining technology for in-situ modification of aluminum beneath coal deposits, coordinated mining methods for coal and aluminum, and the control mechanisms of rock formation. The goal of this exploration is to provide an effective path for the safe, environmentally friendly, and efficient development of coal and aluminum symbiotic resources."
