Abstract:By means of similar material simulation and numerical simulation, mining of No.8 and No.5 coal seams in Baizi Coal Mine is simulated. Similar simulation results show that the bottom plate pressure of No.8 coal seam is fluctuated on the stress value of the original rock of 2.67MPa and the coal pillars remain stable after completion of No.8 coal seam. For No.5 coal seam, the maximum abutment pressure of coal floor is 3.92MPa, which is much lower than that of coal pillar(11.8MPa). The numerical simulation shows that the vertical stress of the lower coal pillar is obviously reduced when No.5 coal seam is mined out and the decompression zone is formed in the coal mining area. In the process of upward mining of No.5 coal seam, the remaining pillar in No.8 coal seam stay stable.
