Determination of reasonable coal pillar width in No.8 coal seam of Baode Coal Mine

Abstract：In view of the large horizontal stress in No.8 coal seam of Baode Coal Mine,it is still difficult to ensure the stability of the roadway by adopting the coal pillar with width of 35m,which also reduces the recovery rate and economic benefit of coal resources.Based on the roof structure and geological conditions of No.8 coal seam,theoretical research,numerical simulation and on-site test were carried out to obtain the small coal pillar scheme for roadway protection in No.8 coal seam,that is,adopting the 12m coal pillar.Loose ring test results show that:the effect of 12m coal pillar is better.Pillar width determined by the method is scientific and reliable,and provides a scientific basis for determining the reasonable width of the coal pillar in Baode Coal Mine,which ensures the safe and efficient mining of seam No.8 coal seam,and significantly improves the economic benefits.
