Discussion on structure design of high retaining wall in coal receiving pit

Abstract：As the coal receiving pit of Changxu Coal Mine is located at the hillside, high retaining wall supporting is required for the high slope at coal side of the coal receiving pit, so the structure design is carried out regarding the coal receiving pit and high retaining wall as as a whole structure. Counterfort retaining wall scheme is selected according to the comparison with gravity retaining wall, cantilever retaining wall, anchored retaining wall and reinforced soil retaining wall. The software calculation and manual check are applied for the counterfort retaining wall calculation, to determine the size of each part and the crack width of retaining wall, and to ensure the strictness and reliability of the calculation. Meanwhile, the problems need attention are solved for the overall design of counterfort retaining wall and the coal receiving pit.
